About Us
Nick lives in the Detroit Lakes area with his kids, 2 golden retrievers, and wife Megan. He was born and raised in Detroit Lakes, MN. After graduating from high school in 2001 joined the US Army and completed training in Ft. Benning, GA as an infantryman, earning a parachutist badge, then attending Ranger Indoctrination Program. After passing Ranger Indoctrination he began serving in C Company of the 3rd Ranger Battalion, serving multiple combat tours to Afghanistan and Iraq. He earned the Elite infantry badge, Combat infantry badge, Ranger tab, and others. After completing military service Nick attended NDSU college, and built a storage building behind the Green’s shop in 2006.
He returned to Iraq as a contractor for a time, then once again returned to Detroit Lakes and took over the family plumbing company, Green’s Plumbing, in 2012. At the same time he also began building self storage buildings around the Green’s shop building. In 2015 he also purchased Modern Heating and merged it with Green’s Plumbing. In 2022 he sold the original self storage facility and shop. He then began construction of the new Green’s shop along with a new and improved climate controlled self storage building design. Green’s Plumbing & Modern Heating has been merged with Esser family of companies and operates out of the new location also.
